Looking for a spot to kick off the New Year’s festivities with the family? The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will open Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild, presented by Publix, for special hours on Dec. 31, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Just like other nights of the festival, guests can stroll a 3/4-mile path around the Zoo and take in dozens of larger-than-life, handcrafted lanterns in an experience of sound, light and color. There will also be a DJ bringing the party to the splash pad (the water will not be on), added games, and a fun countdown at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. to bring the spirit of the night.
