NASCAR isn't considering mandating its competitors be vaccinated against COVID-19 and President Steve Phelps says making it a requirement is a “slippery slope.”

The two sons of the late Dan Wheldon have signed junior driver development deals with Andretti Autosport.

He won eight ARCA races over the last two seasons then jumped two steps to make his NASCAR debut Saturday.

Other food drops have been held at the Darlington Raceway, Martinsville Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway and Phoenix Raceway.

Driver Ryan Newman will return to the Daytona 500 on Sunday after a fiery crash at the Speedway last year. The race airs at 2:30 pm on Valentine's Day.

"The timing seemed perfect as NASCAR is evolving and embracing social change more and more," says Michael Jordan, the basketball icon and majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets NBA franchise said.

A limited number of fans will return to Daytona International Speedway Saturday for the IMSA WeatherTech 240 race.

NASCAR has been split since the decision was announced Wednesday.

NASCAR driver Angela Ruch is one of three women competing this season. Ruch competed in the Truck Series of the Daytona 500 last weekend but a crash kept her from placing in the top ten. 90.7 WMFE spoke with Ruch about the lessons she wants to teach her young fans about always getting back behind the wheel.
