IV drug users

When patients need long-term treatment with IV antibiotics, hospitals usually let them do it at home — but not if they have a history of injection drug use. A Boston program wants to change that.

A bipartisan bill that would have expanded needle exchanges throughout the state died in the Florida House last spring, but there are calls to resurrect it during the new legislative session.

There were more than 300 new cases of Hepatitis C last year in Florida in 2016. More than a third of these were young people.
