Three of Orlando’s major roadways will see nighttime closures over the next few weeks as part of the I-4 Ultimate construction project.

Construction on the I-4 Ultimate is closing the Kaley Avenue exit ramps off westbound I-4, for good. Florida Department of Transportation is closing the ramps to east and westbound Kaley Avenue Tuesday at 10 p.m.

Congressman John Mica is urging central Florida municipalities to work together to bring smart technology to the region’s stop lights. Mica has found federal dollars for software that can program traffic lights based on real-time traffic flow.

Drivers on I-4 westbound near the Formosa Avenue overpass likely will notice lane changes Monday morning. This is the second major traffic shift for the I-4 Ultimate project.

Engineers tackled questions from curious commuters Wednesday night about the 21-mile overhaul of I-4. It was the first public session giving residents the chance to pour over huge maps of the project.
