Hundreds of thousands of Central Floridians remain without power in the wake of Hurricane Ian. The area’s largest power companies report they are continuing to work to restore service, but exact restoration times seem difficult to predict because of Ian’s lingering effects.

Utility workers are staged throughout the state to help with power restoration in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.

State regulators have given Florida Power & Light the go ahead to raise rates. FPL says it needs the cash to pay for damage related to Hurricane Matthew.

AARP filed a petition to intervene in a case with the Florida Public Service Commission this week about whether FPL should be allowed to raise base electricity rates.
