Recovery teams are slowing reaching Haitians impacted by the Aug. 14 earthquake that hit the southwestern area of the island. More than 1 million people were effected by the quake.

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti over the weekend, just weeks after the country’s president Jovenel Moïse was assassinated.

Five years ago today, a powerful earthquake struck Haiti, toppling historic landmarks, killing thousands of people, and displacing more than a million.Haitians mobilized to restore their communities, and the international community pledged billions of dollars in aid. But ex-pats have an important role to play in rebuilding. 90.7’s Renata Sago spoke with an earthquake survivor in Central Florida who’s made it her mission to give back to the country.

It's still too early to tell just how much the magnitude-6.0 quake will cost the region, but it comes after a drought had already made things difficult for wineries.
