Before July 18, the Senate will consider a proposal to claw back funding for public media – an action called rescission. The House narrowly passed this provision in mid-June. This funding is essential to Central Florida Public Media, providing direct support through grants, and indirect support through services and infrastructure supported by CPB. Congress has already approved this funding, as recently as March 2025, and 70% of it is intended for direct local station support.
If rescission passes, the impact on public media will be devastating.
The time to save public media funding is NOW.
Calls to the Senate can help lawmakers know of your support for public media, and they are an important indicator of how their state is thinking about an issue.
Between now and July 18, you can make a difference with two calls each day.
Tell the Senate to oppose rescission and support public media.

Hi, my name is [NAME]. I live in [TOWN, CITY, STATE].
I’m calling to urge [SENATOR NAME] to oppose efforts to eliminate federal funding for public media. The majority of this funding is intended to support local stations like mine – Central Florida Public Media. My local station is a vital part of my community—it connects us and keeps us informed on issues of local importance, especially during emergencies. Without this funding, stations like ours would be seriously harmed. That’s not a risk I’m willing to accept. Please vote NO on rescission and protect our state’s local public media outlets.
I urge [SENATOR NAME] to safeguard this service for your constituents, like me.
