90.7 WMFE News is rolling out a series about open records, how to access public information, and what can be learned by the public from a records request under the Freedom of Information Act.
The series is built around what’s called “Sunshine Week,” an annual nationwide event started by the American Society of News Editors to recognize access to public information.
To kick things off, ASNE Executive Director Teri Hayt tells 90.7's Nicole Darden Creston what Sunshine Week is all about and how it got started…including its Florida roots.

90.7's series “Here Comes The Sun: A Look At ‘Sunshine Week’ And What You Can Learn From Public Records” runs March 12th through March 16th, 2018.
More information is available on the official Sunshine Week website.
