Medicaid Expansion

The more than $750,000 dollar grant from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services will be distributed to local agencies who will provide housing and mental health services.

More than 150 local business, hospital and civic leaders met in downtown Orlando Friday to discuss the impacts of the Florida Legislature’s impasse on Medicaid expansion. Central Florida Partnership and the Central Florida Chambers of Commerce Alliance hosted the health care briefing.

The Senate has a plan to expand Medicaid by creating a state-run marketplace for health insurance. The house opposes that idea. To find out why, 90.7’s Matthew Peddie caught up with Dennis Baxley, a Republican from Ocala.
