As cold weather moves in, Central Florida counties are preparing to house residents in warm shelters starting Thursday.

Council members added new projects to Florida’s shortlist of lands to protect, including over 2,000 acres of land in Flagler, Seminole, Polk, Putnam and Volusia counties.

The new rule will require every high school athlete to get at least one electrocardiogram screening throughout their high school career.

Florida’s Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) is March 19, along with several local elections in Flagler and Orange counties.

The count will help experts determine whether additional social and housing services are needed.
